The Institute has started functioning with the view of becoming a competent policy study and research institute in Ethiopia and a well-known policy training center in East Africa by 2040
MISSION
To provide support to the regional government and the overall development of the area by conducting researche and studies that indicate recommendations and can be used to design preferred policy directions and strategies.
VISION
To be a preferred and reliable research and study institute that generates recommendations that can be used to design policy directions and strategies based on fact-based information, scientific principles and long-term plans to ensure government development and good governance.
Our Focus
“The Policy Study and Research Institute has been reestablished in the newly formed Central Ethiopia Regional State in order to scrutinize the challenges encountered and provide solution options through conducting researches and studies on the implementation of various policy issues in the region.”

Establishment and Mission
PSI was established in November 2018 by the Ethiopian government with the mission to:
- Conduct rigorous research and policy analysis that provide knowledge-based inputs to policy making and policy implementations, and
- Disseminate its research outputs and findings to the policy and research community, academia, the development community and other stakeholders.
